How to Consume Books and Multitask at the Same Time.

So I’ve been obsessed with self-development and financial books lately. I did not grow up with a lot of financial literacy and it’s something that I need to get a grip on.

As a single and busy working mom, I find the need to change myself if I want things to change. I am trying to do the reasonable thing and trying to educate myself in all these two areas: self-development and money. I find the Audible app to be great. It has allowed me to consume 47 books in the past 14 months. I am ‘listening’ while I’m cooking, doing housework, in my 60-minute commute to work, etc. I would also like to point out the pros and cons that I see using this wonderful app.

Pros: If your goal is consuming content for the general knowledge of it, audio books have worked exceptionally well.

Cons: Ok it’s not really a ‘bad’ thing, just a deviation from the ‘pro’ mentioned above. There are some books that while listening I found the urgency to take notes so I wouldn’t forget. For these, there is a ‘notes’ features where you can cut the specific wedge of the audio and sort of bookmark it, give it a title, and make your own note of it. For other books, I found the need to physically write down notes, a diagram, etc. So it just depends on what content you need specifically but overall I am loving the experience of audio books.

I thought about giving my own humble and mini reviews of the books I’ve listened to so far. More to come and happy ‘listening’!
